If you're unsure where to start, don't worry – you're not alone! We'll guide you in choosing the right hockey program for your child, whether they're just beginning or looking to sharpen their skills. Whether it's through a beginner's clinic, a learn-to-play program, or a more advanced league, we'll find the best fit for your child's age, skill level, and goals.

Periodically, we host Try Hockey for Free events. Try Hockey for Free is an excellent way to try out the sport of hockey without having to make the investment into equipment. There’s no experience necessary – we provide the instructors and the equipment for you to use!

The HoneyBaked Hockey Club's 8 & Under Hockey program is the perfect starting point for a child's hockey journey.

Learn to Play & Girls Learn to Play - Ages 4-8
January - March
  • Recommended as a first step for beginning hockey players who completed a Learn to Skate class and have a solid base of fundamental skating skills.

  • (1) 1-hour skate, 1:00 to 1:50pm each Saturday.

Our Hockey Operations Manager will provide a recommendation for your child's next step after completing each step of the 8-and-Under program for further guidance. Upon graduating the program, your child can join our Tier 3 program, or try out for one of our Tier 1/Tier 2 hockey teams: HB Hockey (Tier 2), and the HoneyBaked Hockey Club Tier 1 program – all at Suburban Ice Farmington Hills.

Additionally, Suburban Hockey School offers year-round clinics for further development, from skating to shooting and everything in between.
